The whole world got scared of made in China products "black hearted goods". I think it is necessary to differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China and vice-versa. The first 3 digits of barcode 690.691.692 is made in CHINA and 471 is Made in Taiwan.

It is our right to know simple things when buying to be alerted. The government and related departments never educate the consumer public.

This may be petty but it will help you to be aware. China milk poisoning incident and white rabbit candy (found traces of Melamine ) made everyone afraid to look at the daily news event. Everyday, the reports may vary. No one can clearly tell us what to eat and not. Just let us consider this and please remember the following bar codes. Just to be fair and honest, I still buy China products but I try to be vigilant in choosing them.

Lady Haze, there is no reason why such information should be with held. Still, are these UPCs truly universal? I mean, this system of numbers may apply to UPCs in France, but what aboput the system here in the states?|

I know that I package a product which we referred to as organic chinese pumpkin seeds. Because of the distrust n China, they are now labeled simply "organic pumpkin' seeds"

That is very useful info... learned something new today !

Salut Haze! Wow, I had no idea. Thanks for that info. It's hard to avoid products from china, but I started making the effort to do so. Especially when it comes to food, you never know what those sneaky communists will do for a buck.

HiKEITH, they have published them already because I came across a site so I thought this will be useful to share. After this milk incident so as to let people aware. In fact, when you want to buy something you need to check the bar codes and you will identify where it is made. For instance, I still have the dried mangoes I bought from Pinas. The bar code 480 is present and so this is really made in the Philippines. Well, as for UPC's DHL and vice-versa it's probably the company's SOP !

Thanks SIDNEY I was surfing and I thought it this will be helpful to readers.

Coucou ANGELO me either until I read something from internet. Indeed hard not to buy Made in China, because some of us prefers to buy cheaper goods that we sometimes forget the quality. I am also starting to be cautious in buying stuffs made from China. I prefer to avoid them for precautions. When I go to Chinese store I only buy Made in the Philippines talaga or Made in Japan or Vietnam :D !

Hi Haze,

Sige pupunta ako sa store, mag pe-pretend na bibili ako nang damit pero titingin lang ako sa bar code.

Nakakaawa yong mga babies na nagkasakit dahil sa milk. I heard there's also some who died because of it. That's a shame. I couldn't imagine losing my son just because I'm trying to feed him.

We have a lot of China products here in Canada but I would not buy food that's made in China. You can easily tell because the package is telling you where it's made.

This entry is very informative, thank you for sharing. I agree with Agring too. but if you are in the Philippines, there are so many imitaion products made from China. I think China is the great imitator.
