this is a BIG INSULT !

Just received an email from a friend and this would make you revolt as I was! When I was a child I was taught to respect other cultures, to accept indifferences between person, learning and not judging. I guess, this is now a discrimination not solely for our culture as well as to others! Teachers are known to be intelligent people, model of the students, example to most of us, sadly there exist STUPIDITY in some !

We are born as EQUAL CITIZEN and there is no place for RACISM!

Please click and you will understand WHY ???
Punished for not eating correctly!

My opinion:
The child eats like that. The mother must be informed (by the school in writing)before it goes to the tenth time. A letter must be addresed to the parents to teach the child to eat with a knife and fork, instead of spoon and fork.
If the mother said, okey I will teach my child that way of eating very soon, then i think there will be no mis understanding.
But no, the school just impose their authority without communicating with the parents.
If the mother said: oh no, we eat like that so,we stay eating like that includes my children "where ever" they are!
then the school has to give suggestions like: ok madame, your son eats like that, we do respect, but please, in school we got rules, when he is in school , he must eat like the other kids and he may eat in spoon and fork at home instead?

(di ba ganda if may communication)
For me, anyhting can be discussed before anything could lead to any racism, culture clash, kulo dugo etc etc.

one comment made me laugh:
"the school lunch attendant must find someone his size,
in the pigpen!"
Hahaha!
sorry haze, i always take humour in every situation para iwas wrinkles!

I agree with you Fran! The lunch monitor should speak to the parents and not to an 8 yr.old child because he will not understand everything! He has put the child to an embarrassing position in saying that eating with a spoon & fork is yukky & disgusting! Effectively, the child was traumatized and will develop inferiority complex later on. This is not the way to educate children or even explaining things....yung approach nya mali di ba! Especially saying that to a child because they are FRAGILE!

I'm sure his parents can easily accept explanation coming from the lunch monitor & explain the school rules whatever it is! Then it's their turn to talk to their child that he needs to learn & follow the school rules! Therefore, this situation can be avoided di ba!

Right 2 way communication is really important !

Ok lang yon Fran, he he he wag seryosohin baka nga magka wrinkles! Thanks Fran bon WE !

Hi Haze, I've read this article too, it was forwarded by an acquaintance. What the lunch monitor did was unjustified (if it was true). There is nothing wrong with using the fork and spoon to eat. Each culture have different ways of eating and to insult one because of that shows intolerance and ignorance. The school principal should also be disciplined and he should give a public apology for his comments. I've read that the school authorities are saying that the child was disciplined for his behavior, could it be that they're just covering up because they don't want the bad publicity? I agree with the parent's decision to transfer the child to a different school.

Nao : Right...better off he didn't eat with his barehands baka don pa sila ma shock di ba!

Babette : Really they transferred the poor boy...I guess it's a good solution because he will not stand anymore the humiliation he got from the lunch monitor and to everybody who witnessed what he has been through.
